Vanessa & Aaron wanted something simple. Neutral colors. Eucalyptus. Lots of warm wood. A small guest list. Their wedding at Shenandoah Mill was all of that, and it still felt huge. That’s what happens when your family and friends travel from all over the world to be there. A joyful, rustic, and charming wedding.
When we asked Vanessa what inspired her decor, she kept it short. Simple and neutral, with a eucalyptus and rustic wood theme. Shenandoah Mill was made for that. Weathered wood siding, stone walls, red-trimmed windows with lace curtains, and that big wooden water wheel out front.
White roses, baby’s breath, and eucalyptus did the rest. The bridesmaids wore sage green. The groomsmen wore gray with sage ties. Aaron wore a three-piece gray suit with a crisp white tie. Nothing fought for attention. Everything just looked like them.
Vanessa’s favorite feature was the outdoor ceremony space and the arch they got married under. Wooden beams, white draping, and string lights tucked into the greenery overhead. You can see why she loved it.
Before the ceremony, Vanessa & Aaron shared a first touch and a prayer. They stood on either side of a wooden corner, holding hands without seeing each other yet. Our photographer called it extra special, and the photos show it. Vanessa is smiling ear to ear. Aaron’s quiet grin says the rest.
The ceremony was the part Vanessa said she was most looking forward to. They read their vows to each other from little vow books under that arch. Then came one of the most special moments of the day. Vanessa dedicated her bouquet to her mother.
The rain came and went all day. You can actually spot a few drops in their portraits by the glowing Mr & Mrs Harvey marquee sign. Vanessa & Aaron didn’t let it slow them down for a second. The veil shot by the water wheel still happened. So did the laughs under the pergola.
Rain on a wedding day happens, even in Arizona. When your team has photographed 1,000+ weddings, weather doesn’t throw anyone off. We adjust, keep the day moving, and you get to stay with your people.
Vanessa told us food was one of the things she wanted to WOW her guests with, and the taco stand was the vendor she was most excited about. Street tacos, agua frescas, and chips with all kinds of dips. Vanessa & Aaron made sure to grab full plates of their own!
They also ordered custom desserts to match their colors, plus a simple white cutting cake topped with peach flowers and a gold Mr & Mrs topper. Small, sweet, and very them.
Special dances were the other big WOW on Vanessa’s list. Their first dance ended with Aaron lifting her straight up into the air while the whole room cheered. And the shoe game had Vanessa cracking up.
After that? They were on the dance floor almost all night. Then they walked out through a cloud of bubbles, still laughing, surrounded by the people who came so far to celebrate them. Perfect joyful ending to such a charming and rustic wedding day.
